# Automatic rental product import

New Shopify products with a chosen **Product Type** are added to Rental Products automatically, so you don't have to import each new dress.

## Turn it on

1. Go to **Settings → Data** and find the **Automatic Product Import** card.
2. Tick **Enable automatic product imports**.
3. Under **Shopify Product Type**, select the product type to watch.
4. Click **Save automatic import workflow**.

## How it works

1. When you create a product, Shopify notifies the app.
2. The app compares the product's type to your saved type.
3. If they match exactly, the product is added to Rental Products with your store defaults: duration mode, stock method, bond, cleaning fee and calendar window.

## Good to know

- **Matching is exact,** including spelling and capitalisation.
- **Only new products are imported.** For older products, use [Import Products](https://thedressrentalapp.com/docs/bulk-import).
- Products already imported, products with no type or a different type, and the app's own helper products (bond, cleaning fee, insurance, add-ons) are skipped.
- **Renamed your product type?** Update the workflow to match.
- **To turn it off,** untick the box and save again.
- Your Shopify product, variants and pricing are never changed.
